Getting a Library Card
Everyone needs a Universal Card to check out library items. How do you get one? It's easy! Just:
1- Come into the library during our normal operating hours.
2- Bring with you a valid piece of photo ID. If the photo ID does not have your current legal address on it, you need something that does, such as a utility bill or personal mail.
3- The library staff will hand you a blue card to fill out. We will need your full legal name on this card, which means your full first, middle, and last names. All your personal information is considered confidential, and will not be visible to anyone except library staff, as is stated in our policy.
4- Once you have filled out the blue card and shown your ID, we will enter your information into the computer. Once we have done that, we will give you your new card, and you may check something out! Only two somethings at a time, though, since you're a new patron.
5- For children 18 and under, their parent or legal guardian must be with them when they apply for a card. Also, if the child does not have photo ID, we accept the parent's or guardian's photo ID.
And that is how you get a library card! Please note; if you have one from Lowville, or Carthage, you do not need another one for Croghan. The Universal Cards work in all libraries in the system.
